This simple strip mall location may be deceiving since the food at Greek City is authentic and delicious. The interior is casual and appealing. The star dish is easily the grilled octopus, which while pricey — $24 — is incredibly tender, flavorful, and enjoyable. Another star is the lamb souvlaki, a generous portion that does not skimp on the meat.

“Greek City's elegant & unique space is perfect for delicious food within a family-friendly environment. Situated in Ramsey, New Jersey, Greek City accommodates groups of friends or family for lunch or dinner, seven days a week. Owners Teddy and Jimmy will be more than happy to make a recommendation. A Taste of Greece is compact but cozy. The owner is Themis Mourelatos, a native of Athens, who brings authenticity and flavor from his hometown. This spot is known for its grilled meats and dolmades (stuffed grape leaves). In fact, the dolmades, bathing in a delightful lemony sauce, are the best in Bergen County. And don’t take our word for it, celebrities love this Greek food gem. Cameron Diaz gave her recommendation as well!

Greek Corner Grill is the definition of charming and delicious. The two stars of this menu are the Moussaka and the Greek Corner Salad. Their moussaka is rich, creamy and comforting and the Greek Corner Salad is a plentiful and delicious mix of octopus, calamari, tomatoes, red onions, cucumbers, fennel, arugula, and romaine.

30 N Spruce St, Ramsey

Varka is one of the highest-end Greek restaurants in the county. The interior is classy and sharp. The place has long tables adorned in sleek white table cloths and also features a fancy bar. The food is not only delicious here, but so beautiful to look at. The Greek salad is a classic, with big chunks of feta and fresh red tomatoes. The saganaki is extra crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside. However, the winning dish here is the swordfish kabob, a unique twist on the standard beef, lamb, and chicken kabobs of Greek cuisine.
